The Utility Warehouse Discount Club are a company owned by Telecom Plus, a FTSE-250 company in the UK. They offer discount gas, electricity, telephone, broadband and mobile as an all in one package. The more services the customer takes, the bigger the benefits. There’s also a 5% discount card for shopping. The discount on whatever is bought is credited back against the bill. Substantial utility discounts of 10-40% can be achieved without too much effort, and this is what sets the services apart from those offered by the other Utility companies. No-one appart from Utility Warehouse can offer this potential for discounts. My bill for April 2009 is shown below – Utility Warehouse actually paid me £3.29 !
In the summer months, when usage is low, I would hope to actually make a net profit from the service. That’s right, i’ll earn more discount than they actually bill me for, and i’ll therefore be getting my gas and electricity for free. My home phone is also just over a tenner a month, and that includes phone calls!
